Put It Down and Lighten Your Load…Welcome to 2022🧘🏾‍♀️🪴

As the year 2021 has officially ended, what a perfect time to reflect on what hasn’t been serving us.

The phrase “out with the old, and in with the new” comes to mind.

In a nutshell, it’s letting go of something that’s not useful and moving forward.

This is different from a resolution (which I’ll talk about soon).

Ask yourself what have you outgrown?  What is no longer serving you?  What is simply no good for you?

Consider all that is weighing you down and decide if it’s worth carrying forward.  We are ALL carrying unbelievable burdens and it’s a balancing act for sure.  Yet sometimes we forget that we have the power to lighten our load.  It’s not always easy and it’s rarely simple.  However, sometimes we need reminders to get rid of the “garbage”, “noise”, “clutter” and “distractions” and simply CHOOSE OURSELVES.

As you read this, I remind you to have compassion for yourself and others with no judgment attached.  Every living human being is carrying something, and some of the stuff we carry around was never ours to begin with.  We’ve carried it, then were unable for whatever reason, put it down even when it became too much.

Consider leaving these things behind…

  • other people’s opinions
  • self-doubt
  • comparing yourself to others
  • external validation
  • keeping up with the Joneses
  • people pleasing
  • feeling guilty for taking care of yourself
  • expectations of others (towards any area of your life)

These can weigh heavily on a person and be a serious burden.  Release it if you can and without remorse and regret.  You’ve only got one life to live.

When you lighten your load all your problems don’t magically disappear.  There will always be something troubling or lurking on the horizon – that’s life.  However, getting rid of the unnecessary stuff that is weighing you down allows you to breathe a little easier and go through things with a slightly clearer head. Would you rather go hiking with a 100 lb. ruck on your back or a 15 lb. ruck? You’ll enjoy the view much more when your load is light.

Remember, putting yourself first isn’t selfish.  It’s called love. Welcome to 2022!

Until next time.
